The Yawp

There are presently no open calls for poems.

Are you ready to let loose your own barbaric yawp? Here’s how you can play along:

*
Create your own public poetry project.

Chalk poems on the sidewalk. Write poems on Post-Its and leave them in booths at fast-food restaurants. Mail poems to your closest friends. Mail poems to people you barely know. Shout poems from the rooftops. Sing them from the mountains like Maria. Be brave, be creative, be poetic!
*
Stay legal, stay safe, and stay sane.

The only laws we’re interested in breaking here are the laws of physics. Use common sense when planning your Yawp project, and check on legality/sanity if you have any doubts.
*
Give credit where credit is due.

If you wrote the poem, feel free to make your Yawp anonymous. If someone else wrote the poem, though, make sure to give them credit! At the end of the poem or piece of poem, remember to write the author’s name as well as where you found the poem – you want other people to fall in love with the poems you love, so they need to be able to find them!
*
Photograph or film your Yawp.
*
Send in the Yawps!

Please note whether or not you wish for your Yawp to remain anonymous. If you want to tell the story behind your Yawp, please do! We’ll be happy to post it!
*
Remember that the Yawp isn’t limited to poetry!

Do you love microfiction? Micrononfiction? Six word short stories? So do we! Any kind of writing is game – send it our way!
